Domaine Champeau, Pouilly Fumé Silex 2024

The grapes for this superior Sauvignon Blanc from the Champeau estate come from sustainably managed vineyards on flinty red clay soils.

Passion fruit, mango and floral aromas introduce the wine, and these develop in the glass into a diverse bouquet of citrus with hints of herbs and mineral character, including the gunflint or smoke often associated with Pouilly-Fumé.

The Cuvée Silex ages for eight to ten months on its lees in stainless steel before bottling, which gives the finished wine a silky roundness.

These rich aromas and clean citrus energy carry through to the palate, and the wine is a generous, complex expression of Pouilly. It's very well suited to seafood and white meats, particularly when there's a zesty element of herbs, lemon or tropical fruit in the recipe.
